The Appleton-Whittell Research Ranch of the National Audubon Society, the Sonoita Crossroads Community Forum and the Cienega Watershed Partnership was awarded an initial grant in 2009 from TogetherGreen, an alliance between the National Audubon Society and the Toyota Motor Corporation. In the summer of 2010, TogetherGreen provided additional funding to support our second year of operation.
The bottom-line goal of our organization, which we call PE4RC, is to reduce our local carbon footprint. We are engaged within the southeastern Arizona communities of Elgin, Sonoita and Patagonia to provide information and other resources to help community members to:
1) understand the available options for energy conservation,
2) reduce energy use, and
3) implement renewable energy systems if appropriate. |
